Wild West cowboys normally do not perform acrobatics, but that was the scene during Cirque Mechanics Boom Town performance on Tuesday night in McCain Auditorium.

Before the show, the auditorium filled with students, elderly couples and milies with young children. Leslie Carlson, house manager for McCain, said that around 950 of the 1,650 seats in the auditorium were filled for the performance.

The show featured two acts and was intended to exhibit the relationship between humans and machines. The set was used as an acrobatic playground for the performers, who scurried up telegraph poles, soared from a chandelier and somersaulted off trampoline carts. Cirque Mechanics is known for its acrobatic shows, and the performers acrobatic feats elicited gasps and applause from audience members throughout their show, Boom

Boom Town was set in the late in a frontier town called Rosebud. The plot of the first act centered on the towns two saloon owners, who bitterly competed for the limited number of customers the town offered and ended up blowing up each others businesses. The second act was comprised of a search for gold in the towns mine and the blossoming love between the saloon owners children.

Applause sounded throughout the show as the acrobats performed dangerous feats that had some audience members watching through half-closed eyes. One performer climbed a telegraph pole while upside down and proceeded to hang from it in awow gold straight horizontal line, drawing gasps from the audience.

The cast performed a diverse number of tricks throughout the show, from the grizzly prospector who balanced upon three blocks of wood and a moonshine jug to a trapeze artist who wound herself around a trapeze high above the stage as it swung in a wide circle.

Some audience members were surprised at the comedic aspect of the show, like the kleptomaniac lady about town who stored enough stolen knickknacks in her dress to start a pawn shop.

I wasnt really thinking that it was supposed to be humorous, Conner said.

Another acrobatic number featured two of the female performers swinging and twirling on a chandelier hanging above the stage. Sharp intakes of breath were heard as one of the women suddenly dropped, but quickly turned into applause when she was caught at the last second by her partner. The difficulty and precision of such a performance was not lost on audience members.

The most applause came from the trampoline number. Strong world sales boost Tifny's results

FOREIGN tourists in the US and luxury shoppers globally have continued to snap up Tifny & Co&039;s jewellery in the third-quarter, sending its profit up 63 per cent.

The luxury retailer known for its iconic tutiffany ringsrquoise box raised its full-year forecast as a result performance.

But selling more high-priced jewellery like engagement rings and high-end statement jewellery cost the company more to make, and gross margin – the percentage of each dollar in revenue the company actually keeps – declined slightly.

In addition, Tifny forecast fourth-quarter earnings below expectations. The fourth quarter includes the key holiday selling season.

The New York companys shares fell $US6.40 ($A6.36), or 8.7 per cent, to close at $US67.22 yesterday.

Tifnys said its net income rose to $US89.7 million or 70 cents per share in the three months ended October 31, from $US55.1 million, or 43 cents per share,lotro gold a year ago.

Analysts expected earnings of 60 cents per share, according to FactSet.

Revenue rose 21 per cent to $US821.8 million from $US681.7 million a year ago. Analysts expected $US801.8 million.

Foreign tourists helped push revenue up 24 per cent at Tifnys New York flagship store.

In Asia-Pacific, revenue rose 44 per cent to $US183.2 million, helped by strength in the greater China region. Revenue rose 12 per cent in Japan and 19 per cent in Europe.

Tifnys results to date show the luxury shopper is spending freely.

You really feel like you know those you follow.

How would you describe your post-Vogue life?

I was at Vogue for a long time. I loved working there, and I am thankful for the amazing experience and all of the great talent I worked with. But I really felt that the publishing world was changing and that I wanted to be part of this revolution on my own terms. When you work at Vogue, it becomes your life. You sort of join a very shionable, very alluring cult. But you sometimes forget that there is a whole other world out there that is drumming to a different beat.

I am now the orchestrator of my life. I have more time with my kids, I am open to things that I had ignored for a long time. Its a great feeling to be in control and to have your dreams come to fruition. I have never been happier.

Your new site focuses on accessories. Why did you decide to do such a specific site?

My site is about shion seen through the eyes of accessories. It is my expertise. It is my point of view. When everyone else at a show is ooh aahing about the gorgeous gown,Cheap Runscape Gold. Tifny 3Q11 Earnings Preview: Mixed Macro Overhang

Tifny (TIF) reports its 3Q11 results on November 29th. The Street expects the company to earn $0.61 per share on $802.14 million.

In Q2, Tifny reported net sale of $872.7 million (+30% y/y) and non-GAAP EPS of $0.86 per share. On a constant-exchange rate basis, comparable store sales rose 22%.

U.S. sales rose 25% to $438.2 million and comparable store sale increased 24%. The New York flagship store saw sale increased 41%, driven by strong Chinese, Japanese, and European tourist demand amid a weaker U.S. dollar.

Asia-Pacific sales rose 55% to $173.2 million and comparable store sale increased 41%, driven by strong sales from greater China region.

Sales in Japan rose 21% to $142.5 million and comparable store sale increased 8%, while Europe saw sales rose 32% to $101.3 million and comparable store sale increased 11%.

The steady rise in the Chinese Yuan (+4% YTD) and Japanese Yen (+5% YTD) are likely to attract oversea tourists who look for high-end purchases, positively impacting domestic sales.

In Asia, Japan is likely to see continued single digit sales growth amid weaker economy and socioeconomic changes. However, China is likely to offset this weakness with the emergence of its middle class that aspire to western luxury items. For example, weddings are becoming increasingly westernized over the past decade, which result in increasing demand for wedding rings and jewelry. With only 15 stores in the country, Tifny expects to open additional 25 – 30 by 2015 when China surpasses the U.S. as the largest jewelry market.

Chow Tai Fook, an 82-year-old Hong Kong jewellery chain, may be the biggest brand you have never heard of.

Its shops are a miliar presence on the streets of many Chinese cities, catering to the region&039;s love of bling – be it spinach-coloured jade pendants,Perpetuum Nic. buttery gold wedding bracelets or dazzling diamond rings – but the name is unlikely to register r outside its home market.

The company&039;s global anonymity looks set to disappear as the world&039;s biggest jeweller prepares for what could be one of the world&039;s biggest stock market flotations this year.

It is hoping that investors worldwide will be enticed by the opportunity to tap the growing appetite for luxury goods among China&039;s newly rich.

"It is a very big brand in Hong Kong and it has really built up its network in China over the past few years and is increasingly popular there," said Ben Kwong, chief operating officer at securities firm KGI Asia.

Jewellery sales have been growing at 40% a year in China since 2008 and are a key part of the luxury goods market in China, which is expected to be worth $100bn (64bn; 74bn euro) by 2020, according to brokerage group CLSA.

Chow Tai Fook,Perpetuum Nic which means good luck or good fortune in Cantonese, is a rare example of a successful, higher-end Chinese brand in a country where foreign names are often more trusted.

A study by CLSA of the most-searched for luxury brands on Chinese search engine Baidu in the first week of November placed Chow Tai Fook fifth after Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci and Coach.

US and European jewellers Tifny and Cartier ranked 11th and 12th.

There was only one other non-Western brand in the top 25 – another Hong Kong jewellery chain Chow Sang Sang.

"The thing that people don&039;t necessarily understand is that Chow Tai Fook is a proper brand," says Aaron Fischer, an analyst at CLSA.

"It might not have quite the same prestige as Tifny or Cartier, but it is a well-respected brand in China."

Other Chinese brands such as sportswear maker Li Ning have struggled to go upmarket, hitting what some experts have labelled a "bamboo ceiling".

However, Chow Tai Fook is distinguished by its roots in Hong Kong, which often acts a trendsetter for the Chinese market.

It has also benefited from the ct that the biggest US and European luxury brands have not traditionally focused on jewellery.

Another strength is its ability to reach the middle classes outside China&039;s major cities.

A substantial number of its stores are in relatively poorer provinces such as Gansu, Guizhou and Xinjiang, where other luxury brands have yet to establish any presence.

There is less of the silver and white gold jewellery popular in Europe and the US Oil Painting, but plenty of the high-karat yellow gold used to make traditional Chinese wedding jewellery and vivid green jade pendants that many Chinese believe offer health benefits to the wearer.

Diamonds are also a big part of their business.

Last year, the company purchased the world&039;s most expensive rough diamond for a record-breaking $35.3m (23.2m; 26m euro).
